Ive got a Ford 860 that I would like to find a front end loader for. I see all sorts of loaders for 8Ns but Im trying to figure out if those would work on the 800 series as well? Any opinions on which is the best loader for an 800 series? At the moment, Ive found a Superior H118 S for a decent price. Its hard to find references on compatibility.

An 8N is a bear to steer without a front-end loader. It's also very light in the rear end. You get a full bucket on the front and it's gonna be nearly impossible to steer. You'll also need a lot of weight on the back to keep the rear wheels on the ground. I would never put a loader on anything that doesn't have 4WD and power steering.

Re: Hydraulic Fluid/Transmission/Front End Loader You are not going to be draining all the fluid out of the loader cylinders and hoses but I wouldn't worry about what is left in them. Just retract the cylinders when doing the change. When the cylinder rods are fully extended you will be at your lowest fluid level in your transmission reservoir.

I believe the L3901 adjustment would be the same as the older L3800 and L3400 series tractors. There is a plug that you remove down by the hydraulic filter on the bottom. The loader sub frame IS the hydraulic reservoir for the front end loader. On the top of the left hand pillar closest to the operator is a little cylindrical breather cap. That cap is threaded into about a one inch bushing threaded into the top of the pillar. Remove the bushing. The proper fluid level is about 8 inches below the top of the pillar.
